Tip 17: Enjoy your break!

It’s been a tough 2009 but more of us are here than we might have expected. There are some signs that we have reached a turning point, but it will not be easy, and there are still some clouds on the horizon.
You probably won’t be able to rely on economic recovery in 2010. There will still be opportunities, but you have to make sure you grab them. It will still be possible to develop new business lines, but you need to plan for it. It will still be possible to succeed and grow, but you need to put together the people, skills and finance to make it happen.
Coming out of a recession can be dangerous but if you plan properly, keep learning and developing, stay flexible, get the best of your people and above ensure all your products and services remain relevant and provide what their market requires you will get the gain after the pain.
It’s that simple, really!
However our final point, as it was last year, is to remember the work - life balance. Christmas is a time to escape from the work environment, and enjoy time with friends and family, but it will be only human if your mind drifts towards work issues on the odd occasion. However in those moments, focus on how you will achieve your goals, while maintaining a life outside of work. This tip is as important as any in helping you to move your business forward in 2010.
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful new year to you all.
