"Having a part-time FD has been crucial. As an AIM-quoted company we felt we needed a high-calibre FD as part of our management team, and the part-time role has worked well in helping us keep costs down whilst we scale up the business. "

And the winner is....

Find out the winning entry in our Christmas Business Name competition.

Well, it's been a difficult decision but our judging panel has ruled that the winner is Michael-Tarte Booth of iPos International who wins a digital photoframe keyring.

I ought to preface the winning entry by saying that many of our friends whether partners or clients are obviously very open minded and brought out the worst in us too.

Michael's winning entry is for an eaterie he came across in the US called Squat n' Gobble.

Michael said;
"A few years ago I was speaking at a conference on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. After our session my co-presenter Jeff Snedden of Microsoft, his wife and sister-in-law went exploring. We learned all about the indigenous Blackhead Indians (they had terrible acne) before ending up in a small town called Bluffton S.C.

Let me explain that Bluffton is not pure redneck country as in Appalachia but being in "The South" it's close enough for me. Driving through town I was distracted by the sign for the "Squat & Gobble". Leaping from the car I began taking pictures of the sign while the rest of the cast adopted suitably suggestive poses. I then delegated Jeff on the grounds that he was a "local" i.e. American to enter and request a menu as a souvenir. He came running out pursued by what appeared to be a lynch mob screaming "Drive!". Fortunately for him I waited until he was in the car before I obeyed his directive! He then breathlessly explained that the owners witnessed our efforts at art photography and were so impressed that they wanted the film and camera and were not amenable to his request for a souvenir."
Congratulations to Michael and thanks to everyone who entered.
A quick mention to some strong runners-up;
Emma Vigus of Sharemark sent in a clothing retailer called the Pee&Poo Shop.

Ruth Johnstone of North Malvern Limited entered a Caribbean food retailer from Birmingham called Jerk n’ Juice.
So, until next year's Orchard Christmas Competition.....
