The honourable member for Orchard Growth Partners
Not content with giving the new Secretary of State for Business, Innovations and Skills, Vince Cable, the benefit of his views when he visited Guildford last year, Orchard principal Antony Doggwiler has gone one step further by getting himself quoted in the recent emergency budget debate in the House of Commons.
Antony was asked by the Hounslow Chamber of Commerce, of which he has been a member for a few years, to provide a quote for use by the newly elected MP for Brentford and Isleworth, Mary Macleod, during her budget speech and duly obliged. He was then pleasantly surprised to find that not only was the quote used, but it was attributed to him as well as the Chamber.
However Antony remains determined not to let this fame go to his head. “The whole thing could be viewed as a bit of fun, but there remains the serious message that in spite of the current economic difficulties, and the pain that is having to be shared by everybody, the government needs to remain focussed on supporting and nurturing entrepreneurial small and medium sized businesses, as their success is the best way of ensuring a sustainable economic recovery, creating real long lasting jobs and wealth.”
